This course is designed to inform the insurance professional of the common and necessary provisions in producer agreements, as well as the statutory and case law applying to such agreements. It will provide an overview of classification issues, terms commonly referenced in a producer agreement, ownership and book of business options, and various forms and provisions providing compensation and benefits available to benefit a producer and brokerage owner. The discussion will also address restrictions on competition, solicitation and trade secret disputes particular to the insurance industry.
